Rosi Gimeno, Addictions Specialist holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Substance Abuse Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH 13792) and a Master Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP). Rosi is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA). She is trained and certified as an Equine Assisted Psychotherapist and an Equine Assisted Learning practitioner in the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association model (EAGALA). Rosi is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Rosi specializes and has extensive experience in Addictions and Mental Health Counseling and works with individuals who are coping with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, marital difficulties, decreased self-esteem, anger management, stress management, dual-diagnosed symptoms of bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia, life transitions and provides guidance on setting personal and professional goals.
Rosi helps individuals become empowered to explore and learn about their issues while providing an empathetic and understanding relationship. “When an individual feels understood and not judged then it sets the pathway for awareness and change.”
Rosi embraces the idea that the individual has freedom, responsibility and the self-determination to shape his or her own life. She likes to bring awareness and mindfulness of the individual’s issues with the help of her guidance and training in a collaborative approach.
Her interventions are integrated depending on the individual’s personality, life experiences, cultural background and degree of acculturation and adapts her approach to the needs of the individual. Several interventions practiced by Rosi are: Person-Centered Approach, Existential Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), SMART Recovery, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) Mindfulness and 12 Step work in Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) and Narcotic Anonymous (NA).
Rosi is bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish. She is married for over 15 years and has two children.
Rosi is currently accepting new clients and offers daytime, evening and weekend appointments. For those who wish to feel supported in a group setting, Rosi also facilitates small specialty groups. Group members can learn, understand, gain insight and enhance their individual psychotherapy regularly on such issues as:
addictions, relapse prevention, substance abuse education for loved ones, grief, anger management or forgiveness.
