While attending the University of Central Florida, Lexa was the secretary for UCF’s chapter of the international honors society for counselors, Chi Sigma Iota.
During her time as an undergraduate student, Lexa exposed herself to the mental health field and found her passion for helping others by providing behavioral analysis to children with autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. As a therapist, Lexa has experience with children, youth, and adults providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy. She has worked with clients dealing with a variety of issues, including but not limited to: anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, co-dependency issues, mood disorders, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. Lexa also worked with Parkland students during the March for Our Lives Road to Change tour as an emotional support for individuals affected by gun violence.
Lexa’s main passion and specialization is counseling individuals in the LGBTQ+ community and their loved ones. She especially enjoys working with LGBTQ+ adolescents as it is a vital time for them to find acceptance and build upon their self-worth. Throughout her experience with the LGBTQ+ community, Lexa has provided hormone replacement letters for clients looking to make a physical transition. She utilizes strength-based theory integrated with existentialism and family systems therapy in order to provide a holistic approach for her clients. She is drawn to the resilience of the human spirit and uses these approaches to help cultivate it in her clients. Lexa tailors her approach for each individual client based on their personality, life experiences, and culture.
Lexa understands that choosing to come to counseling may be a challenging decision. She enjoys helping to alleviate the anxiety by creating a therapeutic relationship in a non-judgmental and accepting environment. Lexa’s goal is to help her clients make their desired changes to improve their lives in a welcoming setting.
