We're here to help during the current COVID-19 crisis. To protect our clients and therapists we are currently offering Telemental Health (online video sessions).
Sally Duerr Rodriguez, M.S. received her BA in Telecommunications from Indiana University. She has spent over thirty years as a producer and location manager in the film and television industry in New York, Los Angeles and here in South Florida. Sally received her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at St. Thomas University and is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (IMH 183090) seeking licensure this year in Florida. In her previous career, as well as now, she is all about listening to a situation and finding the best way to get it done collaboratively. If you come to her with a willing spirit and the desire to change your life, your relationship or your frame of mind, you can work to achieve that goal together.
Her professional experience in the counseling field has been gathered from working with people who experience a variety of difficulties; moreover, Sally’s specialties include substance abuse, eating disorders, depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, and grief. She is certified in suicide prevention (Safe Talk) and is working towards a certification in trauma- focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
Sally believes that evidence-based techniques are the most effective and this is why she utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She also believes that the client has the most insight and the most knowledge of him or herself so she incorporates person-centered, and solution-focused approaches. Sally believes your thoughts have power over your perceptions and behaviors, and perhaps if one increases mindfulness and self-awareness, it is possible to tune in to the source of the discord. From there, developing effective coping skills and strategies will help steer one back to the life path desired.
Confucius says that the longest journey starts with a single step. This has to come from everyone individually and once a client feels safe and develops a relationship with a therapist, they can begin to address their needs. Sally is looking forward to hearing from you and helping you find a solution to your situation.
